bye bye summer

Hope you've all had a fantastic summer as we have! I know I've been seriously slacking with the blog for the last few months as we've had a very busy summer with family, enjoyed the great weather, kept my pretty active toddler entertained and been working on a brand new release of my portrait site. Stay turned for the launch in the coming week or two. 

We celebrated my son's 2nd birthday in August, built a rock/zen garden for him & I, did a lot of drawing with crayons,  did some cottaging, collected A LOT of rocks, played in the water, fished with a butterfly net, played in the sandbox and kicked the ball around.  We kept him and he kept us pretty busy.

As we welcome the fall season and a busy time in the studio, let me leave you with images of our summer and a contest! Stay tuned for the last promotion of the year and the launch of the new Andrea Rees Photography portrait site.

fresh and new

Lots of things happening around AR studio so keep an eye out for a few announcements. In the coming weeks, Andrea Rees Photography will be unveiling a new portrait website. To celebrate the launch, we'll be having a 1 day sale so make sure you come back often or join the blog subscription. Now on to the newest baby I've had the opportunity to photograph...

Here is baby H, just a few hours shy of 1 day old. I had the fantastic opportunity to do a "just born" session for this family. I have to say I really enjoyed being out of the studio. We did this session at the hospital. It was an incredible honour to be asked to photograph this little guy so early in his life.  So thank you Sharpe family and welcome to the world Baby H.

By the way if any of you are wanting a "just born" session and are in the Mississauga, Brampton or Oakville area, be sure to call. I can't do birth photography just yet, but this is the next best thing. These sessions would be the day after birth and in some cases, same day. Stay tuned for more of Baby H, this time in the studio at 10 days old.

Here comes summer...

It's been feeling a lot like summer around here for a while now. To celebrate the summer we have "Half Off Wednesdays". Remember, if it's a maternity or intimate session, 20% of the session fee will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, Ontario chapter. That's $35 for a maternity session and $40 for an intimate session going to Breast Cancer research!

These sessions are for in-studio only and include a portrait credit of $175 to spend as you'd like. That's a savings of $175 off your portrait session fee and $200 off your intimate session fee. This promotion is available as an e-gift/gift card as well.

Giving Back

I'd like to take this time to draw attention to two very important organizations that Andrea Rees Photography supports. While I wish these organizations didn't have to exist, sadly they do. It is my hope to be able to contribute and give back to them.

The first is the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. When a Maternity or Intimate (glamour,boudoir,intimate) portrait session is booked, 20% of the session fee will be donated to CBCF, Ontario chapter.

The second is Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, a non-profit organization that provides infant bereavement photography and support to families experiencing infant loss. Andrea is now an affiliate photographer and provides families with a private and sensitive photography session, a CD of images for printing and a DVD slideshow. This service is free of charge. If you, or someone you know is in need of this service please contact NILMDTS or myself for further details. 

She's 2!

I've been photographing A since she was 9 weeks old. Well actually since her mommy was pregnant with her. Now A is a big sister and I've been photographing him during his first year as well. Recently, A celebrated her 2nd birthday and she came in for a birthday photo shoot. Most of you know that I don't use props all that much, but I've recently acquired some beautiful puffy skirts that I couldn't resist. I already had the hats and pearls so together with the skirt, these photos of A are darling and make for great dress-up fun for the little girls that come in.

New arrivals

I knew Spring was going to be busy with babies. So I wanted to send out a collective congratulations to all the families with recent arrivals and best wishes to the families that are at "any time now" or due within the spring months. I am looking forward to meeting all of your babies in the near future. Thanks to everyone that have emailed me photos from the first few hours. I always enjoy getting those emails!

Second Babies

I thoroughly enjoy photographing all the babies that come to my studio. It is especially satisfying to be able to capture them from maternity to their first birthday and beyond. I am truly privileged to be apart of these intimate moments with the families I photograph.

When I decided to offer Baby's First Year as an option I never imagined the joy I would get out of watching the baby grow into a little person. After being in business for almost 4 years, I'm now enjoying a whole new experience and that is photographing the second babies. It has been amazing to watch my first babies grow and watch them become big sisters or brothers.

Newborn Love

There's nothing like witnessing the love between a mother, father and their newborn child. Well, the only thing better is being able to capture it and preserve it for my clients. I've had the pleasure of photographing this family since the maternity session. I look forward to watching him grow and seeing you all again in a few months for his next session. Thank you A & N for allowing me to capture this precious time in your lives.
